Alex Tips Luclay and Karen To Win Big Brother Amplified

ALEX BINEY
Ghanaian Big Brother Amplified housemate, Alex Biney popularly known as ‘Bomaye’ has arrived in Ghana after his 70-day stay in the hit reality TV series. The just evicted housemate at a press conference in Accra revealed that he sees Nigeria’s Karen and South Africa’s Luclay to be at the forefront of the race for the double $200,000 cash prize.

“Karen and Lucay are at the forefront. If that’s the case, then by all means they should take it. However I don’t like to judge whoever should take the money just because two people are at the forefront. It’s the last stretch of the game and you got to bear in mind that it is a game and its entertainment. So basically it is whoever that keeps us entertained and glued to the television till the very last day that deserves the money. And if it means that Karen and Luclay are doing just that then of course Kudos to them,” says Alex.

Alex still remains evasive about his true feelings for fellow housemates Miss P and Weza but wasn’t shy to admit that of all the kisses he enjoyed while in the Big Brother House, the best was from the sexy Angolan, Weza. “I definitely think that the kiss Weza and I shared was more passionate. She came into the house with animosity between her and Millicent so she came in with a strategy to kind of seduce me or get me away from Millicent but we connected on a different level. We started to see each other differently and that kiss made it a little more emotional for the both of us but definitely it was a good kiss.”

‘The ladies’ man’, Alex said he expected to be put up for eviction the week he was evicted because of the drama between him, Weza and Miss P but added that he didn’t fully understand that he would be leaving because he had not prepared himself mentally to leave the house at that point. Comparing his strategy with that of Nic, he commented: “I really don’t know Nic’s strategy however I wasn’t playing these girls. I went into the house with the intention of being personable, being myself and being likeable by the house. I judged the viewership on how I saw the house, if the house liked me then I knew that the viewers liked me. It worked for a long time until certain emotions got crossed and eventually it played a factor in me leaving the house. I never played any of the girls; I was genuine and connected with all of them.”

Alex in spite of being tagged as a typical ladies’ man said that he grew up in a family of strong women that taught him to respect women and so that informed him to restrain his relationship with the girls in the Big Brother House. He said it would be easy for a man to have sex in such a situation and he would only be referred to as a player and not criticized much for his behaviour by society while a woman would be tagged as a slut and chastised by the public if she applied herself to a similar behavior, especially in the African setting. He therefore protected the girls in the house as a sign of his respect for woman and he hopes that he set some standards for African men to follow and value African women.

Describing the Big Brother experience, Alex said he loved the entire experience although it came with its ups and down. He said he wished that the cameras in the house could be less obvious to housemates so that they would be less aware of their actions and be more real and spontaneous. He implied that the likes of Hanni, Sharon O and Wendal are not as strong and entertaining as the others but admitted that by the nature of the game, the strong characters are put in the limelight and the disadvantage is that they are put up for eviction by people who see them as a threat.

Moving forward, Alex is hopeful that the experience would open up several opportunities for him, particularly in the world of showbiz and fashion. He added that he has plans for setting up his own fashion business from his experience with Phat Farm in the US. He will also be using his new celebrity status to support environmental campaigns including the fight against malaria and the promotion of good sanitation via Team Alex, a group that was formed by friends and fans to whip up support for his Big Brother Amplified campaign.

Alex was presented with a DStv Mobile enabled Nokia handset with one year free subscription from DStv Mobile Ghana. There will also be an eviction party for Alex at fellow Ghanaian Big Brother housemate, Confidence Haugen’s popular Aphrodisiac Nightclub on Saturday, July 16.

“I played a supporting role in Socrate Safo’s Destined Child and lead role in Miracle Film’s Ye Ko Mmaa Pe. I even auditioned for Venus Film’s Princess Tyra but I didn’t get a role. Venus called me to play Serena, a spoilt actress. I didn’t audition this time around. The role seemed cut out for me.”

Executive Producer of the movie, Abdul Salam Mumuni described the 16 Years singer as a good actress, stating “Mzbel did very well in the movie. She interpreted her role very well. She was simply fantastic and contributed a lot to the film. I will describe her as a good actress considering the fact that this is her first go at lead role.”

Blows Over NDC Song...Lucky Mensah vs Abeiku Santana

ABEIKU SANTANA
News-one has uncovered the actual cause of why ace broadcast journalist Abeiku Santana of Okay FM and Lucky Mensah, one of Ghana’s versatile highlife musicians, are at each other’s throat.

The two, according to checks, are at each other’s throat over the release of a campaign song for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), particularly for the party’s 2012 Presidential Candidate, Prof. John Atta Mills.

The broadcast journalist and the musician were best of friends until Lucky, about two months ago, released a single, ‘Atta Beye Amamo’, a song that endorses President Mills for a second term Presidency.
Moments after the song was released, Abeiku was the very first person to give it airplay on ‘Ekwanso Dwo Dwo’ on Okay 101.7 FM.

The contents of the song shocked listeners because Lucky Mensah had earlier released his’ Nkratuo’ song, perceived to be a sarcastic satire against President Mills.

Abeiku, in playing the song, asked several times if Lucky Mensah was not being inconsistent by first releasing a song perceived to be against the President, and then turning around to release a song singing his praises.

Lucky Mensah, on the other hand, took offence at Abeku’s comments and warned him to stay off the ‘Atta Beye Amamo’ song. Lucky, without giving details, accused Abeiku of acting hypocritically and even threatened to reveal a few negative things about the ace broadcaster.

Reports
Reports reaching News-one from the camp of Lucky Mensah reveals that even before the ‘Atta Beye Amamo’ song was released, Abeiku Santana was in the know and even acted as one of the architects.Though not proved beyond doubt, Abeiku is reported to have been part of the negotiating deal between Lucky Mensah and unnamed person who sponsored the release of the song.

King David Arrested

KING DAVID
Guitarist cum high life musician King David David of ‘Aye fe Notse’ fame, was last Saturday arrested and detained at the Adabraka Police station in Accra for allegedly assaulting a policeman on duty, police sources have told News-one.

King David, according to the source, was eventually bailed by his manager, Kwasi Ernest and award winning gospel musician D.S.P Kofi Sarpong of the Ghana Police Service. “The policeman was on duty when his attention was drawn to what looked like a riot situation. When he got there, he found this guy assaulting a fuel attendant and creating so much chaos. He would not even listen to anyone and when the policeman tried to calm the situation, he vented his anger on him and attacked him too, almost beating him up.

“it was only when he was finally grabbed and forced to the police station that it was found that he was King David the musician,” the source revealed. King David’s manager, Kwasi Ernest, when contacted, confirmed that his artiste had indeed been arrested but denied it was because he had assaulted a police officer.

He explained that King David drove into a petrol station to buy fuel but found out that the fuel attendant had cheated him by selling him a lower quantity of fuel than he actually paid for.

He said a mild misunderstanding generated between King David and the petrol attendant and the musician was eventually taken to the police station but was granted bail shortly afterward.

Majid Michel Talks About ‘SomeWhere In Africa’ + Him Being Poisoned Rumour + Why He Is Not On Twitter/Facebook & More…

MAJID
GhanaCelebrities.Com caught up with Ghanaian screen badboy Majid Michel who was out and about in the areas of Manhattan, USA to talk about the rumour which recently emerged that, he was somehow poisoned on set while shooting the movie ‘Somewhere In Africa’.
GC seized the opportunity to ask Majid Michel about his role in ‘Somewhere In Africa’, his upcoming projects, his social networking presence among other things.
On his role in the movie ‘Somewhere In Africa’, Majid Michel said ‘I played a double role in the movie. I played the commander- Lieutenant Yusuf Mumbasa who is the main character and also a journalist who worked undercover. This was quite challenging as the two roles were very different.”
Majid Michel told GhanaCelebrities.Com that “I found it really challenging especially with the makeup which was used to change the colour of my skin in most of the scenes.
This was quite difficult with the hot weather. Also we had to change our accents as the producer wanted it in such a way that you would not know where in Africa the movie took place, that is why it is called Somewhere In Africa” he said.
Surely, you know we will not let Majid escape the question; Is the movie ‘Somewhere In Africa’ a ripp-off of the South African movie Sarafina as some of our readers having been saying.
Majid was quick to say “I really don’t think there are any comparisons at all though I know a lot of people are saying that there are. The two movies are totally different; the accents in the movies are different so they are not even based in the same country. People really need to firstly watch the full movie before judging or deciding on how the two movies can be compared or be brought close to each other”.
You guys know I will be the first person to bash the movie if turns out to be a Sarafina wanna be. I am peacefully waiting for the premiere date which is 30th July, 2011 and after that, we will come on here to dissect the movie. Let’s wait and watch it first and then we can do the ripp-off bashing.
When asked if he was ever poisoned as some newspapers and websites recently reported, Majid answered…“No there was no truth to that, no one tried to poison me or anything like that. I’m not sure where that rumour came from or where that even started”.
On what the Ghana Movie Awards 2010 Best Actor has in the pipe-line, he said “I am currently looking to work in theatre on Broadway, I’ve done some little work in this area but a few Broadway shows are in the pipe line. It’s very different from what I’m used to doing”. Go get it boy!
Now to those who have been wasting their precious time chatting to some JERK thinking it’s Majid on facebook and twitter, you better find something better to do with your time. The Actor told GhanaCelebrities.Com that he is not on facebook or twitter and the reason is that “there are a lot of fake facebook pages which have been put up under my name but none of them are mine. I will soon start up a facebook page for my fans”.
On a little note of advice (below) for the young ones aspiring to become Actors in the Ghana Movie Industry, we ended our chat with Majid Michel.
“Well what I will say is make sure working as an actor and working in the movie industry is really what you want to do and stay focused. Don’t assume you can relay on just your good looks and nice clothes, it’s about hard work and focus”.

Kwabena Kwabena Turns Actor

Singer Kwabena Kwabena is keeping his fingers tightly crossed as he waits for something he sees as valuable for his overall evolution as a creative artiste: a call from film director Shirley Frimpong-Manso to feature in one of the 10-chapter Adam's Apples movie being produced by her Sparrow Productions company.

Adam’s Apples is the multi-prong story of a widow; Mrs Adams, her three beautiful daughters and how they all juggle with their lives in contemporary settings. Three chapters of the movie have already been released and the director has promised Kwabena Kwabena a role in one of the upcoming chapters.

“Acting has been my dream since infancy, but I haven’t had the chance yet to express it the way I would wish,” a delighted Kwabena Kwabena, who had a singing part in Sparrow Productions' Perfect Picture movie, said in a chat. “Shirley is one of the best film directors in this country at the moment so starring in her movie will be a great honour.”

Born George Kwabena Adu, the award-winning Kwabena Kwabena is one of the best known singers around. He has three albums to his credit: Aso, Debi and Bibini. A new one, Begye Me, is due to be released soon.

Though he read Construction Technology at Accra Polytechnic in 1998, Kwabena Kwabena prefers music to what he studied at school. “I want to sing and touch people’s hearts through my music,” he said.

His view on the Ghanaian movie business is that it is not doing badly and there is a lot of room for improvement. “I know Ghanaians are now patronizing a lot of made in Ghana movies and that is something to be proud about, but we can still improve on it and I know my wife is not going to worry about me playing such a part.”

Shirley Frimpong confirmed to Showbiz that she would use Kwabena Kwabena in one of the chapters of Adam’s Apples. “I believe he suits the kind of role I want to give him. I do not think it would be something too difficult for him to handle. “Kwabena Kwabena is a talented person and I do not think I am going to have any regrets using him in my movie,” Shirley added.

Another singer, Afya, makes a cameo appearance and de1ivers a heart-warming rendition of Sexy, Sassy, Wahala, the title track of Adams Apple 3.
