"Somewhere In Africa" Tops NAFC Awards Nominations



 
 
 


The Nollywood & African Film Critics’ Awards (NAFCA) has released its nomination list, with ‘Somewhere in Africa’ taking the lead in the Ghanaian movie industry with 12 nominations.

‘Somewhere In Africa’, directed by Frank Rajah, has a gripping story which most movie enthusiasts are still waiting to see. It was supposed to be premiered a couple of weeks ago but was postponed. It is yet to grace the big screens, yet the movie which featured Majid Michel, Martha Ankomah, Eddie Nartey, Kofi Adjorlolo and others has bagged a lot of NAFCA nominations.

The award, which is the maiden edition, will be held annually in September, in Raleigh, North Carolina, U.S.A. The award will take place on September 16 and 17 at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center, Durham, North Carolina. Ghallywood has made yet another remarkable impact in the African movie industry by picking nominations in almost all the categories.

Frank Artus, Roseline Ngissah, Eddie Nartey, Ekow Blankson, Nadia Buari, Majid Michel, John Dumelo, Shirley Frimpong Manso, Moses Inwang, Pascal Amanfo, Frank Rajah Arase, among others, have been nominated.

The Nollywood and African Film Critics’ Awards has put together the best of events for the first time in the history of Africa to celebrate Africa filmmakers in the USA NAFCA have got outstanding award categories like ‘Diaspora awards’, People’s Choice’, and ‘Honorary awards’.

NAFCA has also recognized top dignitaries by nominating the likes of President Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Nelson Mandela, President Bill Clinton and President Goodluck Jonathan for life time achievement awards. This year’s awards promises the biggest gathering of African movie makers across Africa and the Diaspora.
