The third edition of the Vodafone 4Site TV Music Video Awards was officially launched on Tuesday July 19, 2011 at the Conference Hall of Golden Tulip Hotel. Vodafone Ghana in partnership with 4SYTE TV has officially declared video submissions open for the much awaited 2011 Music Video Awards.
The revelation comes after months of speculation and excitement following the Vodafone-4SYTE partnership sealed in March, which has been expected to take 4SYTE events to new heights by delivering unmatched high quality experience, synonymous with the Vodafone Brand. The VMA’s, billed as the most thrilling in the country will accept submissions from music videos within the November 2010 to September 2011 period.
Prospective nominees can now submit their music videos via DVD or CD formats at 4 SYTE TV in addition to nomination forms currently available at the entertainment powerhouse. The categories for this year are: best African act in a video, best high life video, best storyline in a video, best male video, best reggae video, discovery of the year, best group in a video, best choreography in a video, best special effects in a video, best photography, best gospel video, best collaboration in a video, best female video, best hip life video, best cinematography, best overall video, best editing and best directing.
Submissions close in September 2011 and will be reviewed by a highly skilled and impressive judging panel, who has garnered a wealth of experience between them.
Abraham Ohene Djan, producer, director and CEO of OM Studios who has over ten years of experience in the broadcast television industry in West Africa and is synonymous with videos such as Trigmatic’s ‘My Jolley,’ will feature on the judging panel as will Ivan Quashigah, CEO of Farmhouse productions.
Ivan Quashigah is a multi-talented filmmaker with 12 years of experience in Advertising and Marketing and winner of over 15 local and international film awards including the prestigious Pan African Film Festival (FESPACO – OUAGADOUGOU ’93) award for Best Short Feature in the Video Category. Ramesh Jai, CEO of Apex Advertising, widely known for its creative and innovative commercials will also feature on the panel. The judges will consider location, costumes, storyline, direction and other factors, in a quest to reward the best quality and innovative music videos in Ghana.
Nominees will be treated to an exclusive ‘nominee’s bash’ in Accra and Kumasi, following the disclosure of the official Award winners for this year will benefit from an extensive range of the latest 3G devices and will also receive cash prizes. A new twist this year will see an expansion in prize winners for the editing, direction, special effects and photography categories to include not only artistes but those involved behind the scenes as well. Commenting on the opening of submissions, Carmen Bruce-Annan, Head of Corporate Communications at Vodafone Ghana remarked that, ‘The VMA’s have challenged Ghanaian music producers to deliver innovative videos by making use of cutting edge technology.

Vodafone Ghana signed an exclusive three year contract with 4SYTE studios, an all-round entertainment powerhouse, to sponsor all 4SYTE TV and 4SYTE events. The contract gives Vodafone Ghana the rights to the popular 4SYTE TV show on TV3 and eTV Ghana, 4SYTE Video Music Awards and all events associated with the event as well as other 4SYTE events including the hugely popular Celebrity Bash. Nominations for the Video Music Awards close in September 2011.
