Yvonne Nelson’s Ban Maybe Extended – Socrate Sarfo

YVONNE NELSON
The Public Relations Officer of the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Socrate Sarfo has said contrary to reports that his outfit has lifted the ban placed on actress Yvonne Nelson, he maintained that the ban was still in place.

The actress was given a one year ban by the body which was supposed to end in October 2011. Socrate Safo told myjoyonline.com Monday that FIPAG met on the issue last week Thursday but did not arrive at any conclusion and does not know why the media is drawing its own conclusion on the issue.

He however disclosed that Yvonne Nelson’s apology letter which she sent to FIPAG in June prompted that meeting and FIPAG will be meeting again tomorrow to see if a final decision could be taken on the matter.

The decision making body of FIPAG comprises Marketers, Distributors and Producers in Accra and Kumasi. He explained that if a group disagrees with a particular decision of the body, FIPAG does not implement that decision, noting that all the different groups under FIPAG would have to agree before any decision is implemented.

Socrate Safo disclosed to myjoyonline.com that there are talks of even extending Yvonne Nelson’s ban as certain members of FIPAG say her conduct and remorse do not reflect someone who is truly sorry for her actions. He hinted that Tuesday’s meeting will be the decision making meeting as to whether the ban should be lifted or extended.
